Terms of Use

These terms cover the tunableapp.com website and the free tools on it, the online tuner, the online metronome, the circle of fifths, and the music reference pages. The site is operated by AffinityBlue. By using it, you accept what follows.

The app is not covered by these terms

Buying and using the Tunable app for iOS or Android is a transaction between you and Apple or Google. It is governed by their terms of sale and their licensing terms, not by this page. Refunds, restoring purchases and billing questions go through the store you bought from, AffinityBlue cannot process them. How the app itself handles your data is set out in the app privacy policy.

Acceptable use

Use the site for your own musical practice, teaching, study or reference. Please do not attempt to break, overload, probe or gain unauthorised access to the site or the systems behind it; scrape it in a way that degrades it for other people; strip our attribution and republish the reference content as your own; or use the site to do anything unlawful. Teachers and students linking to pages, quoting them in lessons, or printing a chart for a music stand are welcome to do so.

Your microphone stays on your device

The free online tuner asks your browser for microphone access so it can detect pitch. That audio is analysed entirely inside your browser tab: the page captures the microphone stream and feeds it straight into the browser's own audio engine, and it contains no code that uploads, transmits or stores that audio anywhere. Nothing you play is sent to us or to anyone else, and nothing is recorded. Your browser will ask for permission before the microphone is used, and you can revoke it at any time, the tuner simply stops working until you grant it again. What the site does collect is described in the website privacy policy.

No warranty on accuracy

The reference content, frequencies, temperament offsets, scales, chords, instrument ranges, fingerings, tempo markings, transpositions, is provided for information, as is, without warranty of any kind. We work to keep it accurate and to correct mistakes quickly, but we do not guarantee that every page is free of errors, and music theory sources genuinely disagree with each other on some of this material. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a performance, an examination answer, an instrument repair, or anything else that matters; check it against your own ear, your teacher and your edition. To the fullest extent the law allows, AffinityBlue is not liable for loss arising from your use of the site or its free tools.

The free browser tools are likewise provided as is. Their accuracy depends on your microphone, your device and your browser, none of which we control, and we do not promise the site will always be available or uninterrupted.

Intellectual property

The Tunable name and logo, the AffinityBlue name, the site's design, text, diagrams, code and images are owned by AffinityBlue or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may link to any page freely. You may quote short passages with attribution and a link. You may not republish substantial portions, redistribute the reference data as a dataset or product, or use our names and logos in a way that suggests we endorse you, without written permission. Third-party names, instrument makers, institutions, Apple, Google, Ableton, belong to their respective owners.

Some pages link to sites we do not operate, including the app stores. We are not responsible for their content or their terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site changes. The current version always lives at this address, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be reflected here rather than announced individually.

Governing law

The governing law and venue for these terms are to be confirmed. Until they are stated here, nothing on this page waives any right you have under the mandatory consumer law of the place you live.
