About Tunable

Tunable is a music practice app for iOS and Android that puts a chromatic tuner, a metronome, a tone and chord generator, ear training tools, practice session tracking, and a practice recorder into a single app. It is made by AffinityBlue, which also operates this website.

What Tunable does

The tuner works with any instrument, from piccolo to tuba and guitar to voice. It shows pitch in cents and hertz in real time, supports an adjustable reference pitch, and includes more than fifteen tuning temperaments, Equal, Just, Pythagorean, meantone, Werkmeister and Kirnberger among them. Its Sustained Pitch History™ display is the part musicians tend to remember: instead of a needle that flicks and settles, it draws how steadily you held a note over time, which is the thing that actually matters in an ensemble.

The metronome covers tempo, beats per measure, subdivisions and accents, with more than thirty sounds, tap tempo, background playback, and multi-device synchronisation over Ableton Link on iOS. The tone generator sustains single notes or full chords for drone practice and ear training. The recorder captures unlimited practice sessions, organises them into folders, adds studio-quality reverb, plays back at variable speed on iOS, and makes it easy to send a take to a teacher. Practice Score™ ties the sessions together with analytics and progress insights.

Tunable works entirely offline, no internet connection is needed for any of its tools, and it stores recordings, sessions and settings locally on your device rather than on our servers.

What it costs

Tunable is a one-time purchase: $7.99 on the App Store and $6.99 on Google Play. There is no subscription. Across the two stores the app holds a 4.8-star average from more than 9,500 ratings.

The online tuner and online metronome on this site are free, run in a browser, and need no account and no download. They exist so that someone who needs an A right now can get one.

Who uses it

Trusted by 1M+ musicians worldwide, including students at Juilliard School and Berklee College of Music, and used by Broadway orchestra musicians.
