Tone Generator Settings
These are the settings available on the Tone Generator Settings screen. For an overview of the tone generator and how to use it, see Tone Generator.
Tone / Instrument
Section titled “Tone / Instrument”The Tone (also called Instrument in Settings) selects the waveform the Tone Generator uses. Each waveform has a different sound character. The choice is a matter of personal preference and has no relationship to what instrument you play.
- Triangle Wave (default on Android): A warm, mellow sound. Good for blending quietly under your playing.
- Sine Wave: A pure, smooth tone with no overtones. Very clear and simple.
- Square Wave (default on iOS): A bright, hollow sound with a clear pitch center.
- Saw Wave: A buzzy, rich tone with many overtones. The most prominent and cutting of the four.
Note: The best choice is a matter of preference. Try each one to see which helps your ear the most.
Volume
Section titled “Volume”The volume controls the audio level for the Tone Generator. A higher setting produces louder audio and a lower setting produces quieter audio.
Auto Octave Rounding
Section titled “Auto Octave Rounding”When using the Hexagon interface, Auto Octave Rounding automatically jumps to the next octave when a sequence of notes crosses C. This keeps the pitches in a musically comfortable range as you play scales or arpeggios.
Interface Style
Section titled “Interface Style”Tunable offers two interface styles for the Tone Generator: Piano and Hexagon. To switch, tap the Piano or Hexagon icon in the tone generator header (visible when the panel is expanded).
The Piano interface shows a traditional scrollable keyboard. Tap any key to play that note. Scroll left or right to reach higher or lower octaves.
Hexagon
Section titled “Hexagon”The Hexagon interface arranges the 12 notes of the chromatic scale in a circle of hexagons. Notes appear in order — each hexagon is one semitone from its neighbors — so you can quickly find any note without scrolling.
