Tone Generator
The Tone Generator produces sustained reference tones you can play or sing against. It lives on the Tuner tab — tap the Hexagon icon or Piano icon to expand it. The tuner stays active while the Tone Generator plays, so you can hear a reference pitch and see your intonation at the same time.
Interface styles
Section titled “Interface styles”The Piano interface shows a traditional scrollable keyboard. Tap any key to play that note. Scroll left or right to reach higher or lower octaves.
Hexagon (Honeycomb)
Section titled “Hexagon (Honeycomb)”The Hexagon interface arranges the 12 notes of the chromatic scale in a circle of hexagons. Notes appear in order — each hexagon is one semitone from its neighbors — so you can quickly find any note without scrolling.
The Sustain button
Section titled “The Sustain button”Tap the ∞ (Sustain) button to hold notes after you lift your finger. With Sustain on:
- Tapping a note holds it until you tap it again.
- Tapping additional notes adds them to the held sound, letting you build intervals and chords (up to 6 notes at once).
- Tapping a held note releases it.
With Sustain off, notes play only while you hold your finger down.
Using the tone generator as a drone
Section titled “Using the tone generator as a drone”A drone is a sustained reference pitch you play or sing against to develop intonation. Because the Tone Generator and the Tuner share the same screen, you can hold a drone and watch the tuner simultaneously — no switching between tabs.
To set up a drone:
- Enable Sustain.
- Tap the root note of the key you are practicing in. The panel expands automatically when a note plays.
- Play or sing along. The tuner shows your pitch relative to the target note in real time.
Using the tone generator for interval practice
Section titled “Using the tone generator for interval practice”- Enable Sustain.
- Tap a reference note.
- Tap a second note to hear the interval.
- Sing or play the interval yourself to train your ear against the reference.
